The Ronin Network Overview
@Ronin_Network is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible Layer 1 blockchain built for gaming by Sky Mavis, the creators of Axie Infinity.
Launched in February 2021, it addresses Ethereum’s high gas fees and scalability issues, offering near-instant transactions and negligible fees to support player owned economies in Web3 gaming.
Initially using Proof of Authority (PoA), Ronin transitioned to Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) in April 2023 for greater decentralization, enabling RON token holders to participate in validator selection.
The network has processed over $4.3 billion in NFT volume and achieved a peak of 2.27 million daily active addresses in 2024.
